The Department for Aging's transportation provider is CDTA ACCESS. They coordinate transportation for Albany County seniors age 60+ that have no other means of transportation and need to access vital appointments and services. Transportation is not guaranteed, and all requests for vital transportation will be met before non-vital requests. Services are prioritized for those most in need going to:
- Medical Appointments
- Adult Day Programs
- Congregate Meal Sites (when available)
- Grocery Stores (when available)
- Pharmacy Visits
Contributions for rides are accepted, but not required. (The suggested donation is $4.50 one way.)
Call CDTA ACCESS at (518) 437-5161 to set up an appointment. Reservations should be made at least 48 hours in advance. Please be prepared to give the operator your:
- Appointment time
- Destination address, phone number and pick up time
Through the CDTA ACCESS line, seniors will be able to access a variety of transportation options including: schedule Star Bus transportation; get a CDTA ½ Fare Navigator Card; and register for the CDTA "Learn to Ride" the Bus Program.

The Star Bus Paratransit provides alternative transportation to people whom at certain times cannot use, or have substantial difficulty using, the CDTA fixed-route bus system because of a disability or impairment. For senior drivers AARP Driver Safety Program is an 8-hour classroom refresher that can help you learn the effects of aging on driving and ways to adjust. Most classes are taught in two, four-hour sessions spanning two days. If you have concerns about a driver because of their medical condition, any concerned individual or the person's Doctor can notify NYS Department of Motor Vehicles of a possible condition and request a driver review.
