Welcome!

The Albany County Soil and Water Conservation District is a local governmental subdivision established under state law to carry out a program for the conservation, use and development of soil, water and related resources. Created on May 14, 1945 by the Albany County Board of Supervisors, the District has been providing county residents assistance for over 60 years. District programs provide information, service, and technical/financial assistance to agricultural, rural, urban and suburban constituents.



Conservation Tree and Shrub Program
Each year we offer a wide variety of seedlings/transplants, ground covers, and wildflower seed mixes at reduced rates to encourage conservation planting. Various planting supplies such as tree tubes, marking flags, and fertilizer tablets are offered as well. The 2013 Annual Spring Tree and Shrub Sale has started! Fish Stocking Program

We run a biannual fish stocking program (May/September). Species offered include Rainbow Trout, Brook Trout, Channel Catfish, Largemouth Bass and Fathead Minnows.

Capital Region Envirothon

The Envirothon is an exciting outdoor competition for high school students. Held each spring, the competition tests the knowledge of each team about the environment. Local teams compete against each other in a regional meet and move up to state and then national level.
