County Executive McCoy Announces Take Back the Night Rally & March Against Sexual Violence

April 11, 2019

Every 98 seconds a man or woman in this country is sexually assaulted. Less than half of those assaulted report these crimes. Albany County Executive Daniel P. McCoy and the Albany County Crime Victim and Sexual Violence Center invite you to attend “Take Back the Night: Rally & March Against Sexual Violence.” Take Back the Night is a public event during Sexual Assault Awareness Month that is recognized across the country to raise awareness about sexual violence. This year’s theme is I Ask, which encourages and empowers everyone, no matter the scenario, to ask for consent, listen, and accept answers without pressuring or coercing another person.

Take Back the Night will be held Wednesday, April 17 at 5pm at the Washington Park Lake House on Madison Avenue in Albany. In addition to the march, there will be community tabling, food trucks, live performances, a survivor speak out, and a candlelight vigil.

Partners of the annual event include the Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, Albany Law School, Albany Medical College, University at Albany, the College of St. Rose, Maria College of Albany, the Sage Colleges of Albany, Siena College and Bryant & Stratton College.
