Albany County Honor-A-Vet Ceremony to Recognize Military Service of George Infante

Join Albany County Executive Daniel P. McCoy, members of the Albany County Legislature, Congressman Paul Tonko, state lawmakers, local leaders, family and friends on Monday, April 7 at 8:30 a.m. at the Joseph E. Zaloga Post 1520, 4 Everett Road Extension, Albany for our April Honor-A-Vet celebration. The late George Infante will be recognized as the April Albany County Honor-A-Vet for his military service. His public service career spanned more than 60 years.
Infante served in the Army during World War II and was honored with numerous awards and ribbons, including the American Defense Ribbon, the Pacific Theatre Ribbon and the Good Conduct Medal. He was instrumental in the fundraising effort for the Vietnam Veterans Memorial and also served as past Albany County Commander of the American Legion.
Infante also served in the New York State Police where he advanced through the ranks to Deputy Superintendent Field Commander. After he left the State Police he was elected as Albany County Sheriff, where he served for nine years. Infante also represented the 1st Legislative District in the Albany County Legislature from 1994-2011 until his retirement at the age of 92. He died in early 2012.
