Joanne Cunningham (D)
Albany County Legislative District 34
Joanne Cunningham was elected to her first term in the Albany County Legislature in November 2015 and represents Election District 34, which encompasses central Delmar. Since August of 2013, Joanne also serves as a Member of the Bethlehem Central School District Board of Education.
Joanne is the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Home Care Association of New York State, a statewide association representing hundreds of home health care provider organizations from across the State of New York. She also has held association leadership positions at the Healthcare Trustees of New York State and the Healthcare Association of New York State. In addition, Joanne has extensive experience in the policy and legislative environment in Washington, DC, having held positions in the United States House of Representatives, the United States Senate, and in the Washington, DC office of former Maryland Governor William Donald Schaefer.
Joanne holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from the State University of New York at Potsdam and a Master of Health Science degree in Health Policy and Management from the Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Hygiene and Public Health. She also has completed an executive leadership program at the Harvard Business School.
Joanne and her husband Brent Meredith have 4 children.
