Albany County has begun recruiting and referring volunteers; providing support and coordination of volunteer programs in Albany County government departments; working with non-profit organizations and public educational institutions to strengthen community based volunteer programs; and recognizing and encouraging volunteerism among Albany County Residents.

Welcome!

We are pleased to provide information about the programs and services we offer to County employees and the general public. The Department of Human Resources comprises three divisions: Personnel Services, Affirmative Action and Employee Relations.

The Division of Personnel Services administers payroll, employee benefits, Workers' Compensation, health and safety, retirement, staff development and training functions.

The Division of Affirmative Action is responsible for directing the provisions of all federal, state and local employment discrimination laws and statues, including the Equal Opportunity Law, the County of Albany and New York State Human Rights Laws, the Civil Rights Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, and the County Sexual Harassment policy.

The Division of Employee Relations is responsible for negotiations and administration of all collective bargaining agreements, as well as union, non-union employee grievances and arbitration cases.
