ACTIV: Albany County Together in Volunteerism

"To enhance and improve the quality of life
in Albany County through recognizing and encouraging
volunteerism among residents."

Albany County has begun recruiting and referring volunteers; providing support and coordination of volunteer programs in Albany County government departments; working with non-profit organizations and public educational institutions to strengthen community based volunteer programs; and recognizing and encouraging volunteerism among Albany County Residents.

It is similar to a job application and will enable our Department of Human Resources to match you with the best possible opportunity. After the you have been matched, we will refer you to the matched agency for further screening and interviews as necessary.

Volunteer opportunities include, but are not limited to:

  • Crime Victim and Sexual Violence Center:
    • hotline counselors,
    • court advocates, and
    • office volunteers;
  • Senior Services of Albany:
    • Shopping Assistance Program,
    • senior Friendly Home Visitor Services;
  • Albany County Residential Health Care Facilities:
    • Vocational Training Transition Program,
    • pet therapy,
    • arts and cultural activities,
    • gardening and
    • reading programs;
  • And many more opportunities in a wide variety of other community agencies and senior centers throughout Albany County!!!
