1944 - 2012

The Honor-A-Veteran Committee commemorated the life of William E. Loetterle III at a ceremony held September 4, 2012 at the Albany County Office Building. A video of this ceremony is available.

William E. Loetterle III was born in Catskill, New York in 1944. He enlisted in the US Navy in 1962 and served as Radioman, 3rd Class on the USS Springfield. William also served in the Naval Reserve.

After his service, William worked as the Albany County Coroner and at General Electric, served as Democratic Town Chairman in Rensselaerville and a member of the Berne and Rensselaerville Democratic Social Clubs. William was a member of the NYS Association of County Coroners and Medical Examiners and a longtime member of both Berne and Rensselaerville Fire Companies and served as assistant chief and chief for both Berne and Rensselaerville and was a coach for the Berne Little League.

The Honor-A-Veteran ceremony is held the first Monday of every month to honor a deceased veteran of the community.
