Honor A Veteran

Daniel B. Goldstein, US Navy

1925 - 2011

The Honor-A-Veteran Committee commemorated the life of Daniel B. Goldstein at a ceremony held August 6, 2012 on the USS Slater. A video of this ceremony is available.

Daniel B. Goldstein was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1925. He enlisted in the US Navy in 1943 and served as Radioman, 3rd Class on the USS Leslie L.B. Knox, USS Lamar and USS Ingersol. Daniel also served in the Naval Reserve. Daniel was awarded the American Theatre Medal, Victory Medal, European Theatre Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Theatre Medal and the
Philippine Liberation Medal with 1 star.

After his service, Daniel was an accountant, President of the Board of B’nai B’rith Senior Housing, member and Treasurer of the Saratoga Lake Sailing Club and tutored children. Daniel was a member of the Jewish War Veterans, Congregation Beth Emeth and a member of the Capital District Destroyer Escort Sailors Association.

The Honor-A-Veteran ceremony is held the first Monday of every month to honor a deceased veteran of the community.
