Honor A Veteran

Thomas A. Grace, US Army

1913 - 1976

The Honor-A-Veteran Committee commemorated the life of Thomas A. Grace at a ceremony held May 7, 2012.

Thomas A. Grace was born in Albany, New York on November 24, 1913. He enlisted in the US Army in 1944 and became Master Sergeant in the NY ANG EOH unit during WWII. Thomas was awarded the American Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal and the WWII Victory Medal.

After his service, Thomas worked as an auto mechanic for Armory Garage and also worked for the NY Division of Military and Naval Affairs. Thomas was a member of the American Legion Fort Orange Post, The South End IME and was also Vice President of the Relief Society Albany, NY. Thomas was involved with Boy Scout Troop 8 sponsored through the Fort Orange Post from 1953 through 1956. He was also the Commander of Albany Post 1 - Vet of National Guard and NAV Military Veterans.

The Honor-A-Veteran ceremony is held the first Monday of every month to honor a deceased veteran of the community.
