Honor A Veteran

Chester J. Pach, US Army

Albany County Executive Mike Breslin, Congressman Paul Tonko and the Honor-A-Veteran Committee commemorated the life of veteran Chester J. Pach at a ceremony on Monday, December 6, 2010 at the North Albany Legion Post 1610 in Albany.

Pach was born in 1918 in Schenectady and was a lifelong resident of the Capital Region. He served in the United States Army during World War II from 1941-1944. As a Staff Sergeant in the 68th Artillery Corps, he saw combat in the Pacific Theater. Upon his return home, he was awarded the WWII Victory Medal and the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal.

Pach was employed with Nehi Beverage for 50 years and was a lifelong member of the American Legion North Albany Post 1610. An avid golfer, he was also a communicant of Sacred Heart Church and enjoyed spending time with his beloved wife, Beverly, and their family.

The Honor-A-Veteran ceremony is held every first Monday of the month to honor a deceased veteran of the community.
