Honor A Veteran

Anthony G. Inco, US Army

Albany County Executive Mike Breslin, Congressman Paul Tonko and the Honor-A-Veteran Committee commemorated Anthony G. Inco at a ceremony on August 3, 2009.

Anthony G. Inco was born on October 9, 1923 in Watervliet. At the age of 19, Anthony joined the United States Army where he served in the 224th Field Artillery, 29th Infantry Division. He fought in the invasion of Normandy on June 6, 1944 and then throughout Central Europe, Northern France, the Rhineland.

For his outstanding service, Anthony was awarded the Certificate of Merit, the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Ribbon with One Bronze Service Arrowhead, Four Bronze Stars, a Good Conduct Medal and a Presidential Unit Citation. Upon his return home, he married Marie C. Paratore and was employed with Cartwright's Ford in Watervliet and Troy and eventually retired from Latham Ford. Anthony was an active member of the Albany Elks, the West Albany Italian Benevolent Society, the Pat Aiezza Catholic War Veterans and American Legion Post 1775 and rose to become vice-commander and sergeant at arms of the Albany County American Legion.

The Honor-A-Veteran ceremony is held the first Monday of each month to honor a deceased veteran of the community.
