Honor A Veteran

Albany County Honors World War II Veteran Harry W. Brouker

Albany County Executive Mike Breslin and the Honor-A-Veteran Committee  honored World War II veteran Harry W. Brouker on Monday, April 1st, 2002 at the Cahill Room of the Albany County Office Building.

Harry Brouker, of Albany, entered the United States Army in April of 1943. He served with the Company C 721st Railroad Operation Battalion. He was stationed at New Orleans, San Antonio and Camp Attenbury, Indiana before departing for Bombay, India. He served as a locomotive engineer on the Bengal and Assam railroads. He was honorably discharged in January of 1946. He was recognized with the Atlantic Pacific Service medal, Good Conduct medal and the World War II Victory medal.

Harry was a railroad locomotive engineer for 46 years. He worked for the New York Central Railroad System, Penn Central and most recently Conrail, retiring in 1987. He was a member of the Guilderland Elks 2840, member and past commander of VFW Post 5294 and past commander of the Albany County Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a volunteer with the Albany Police Benevolent Association.
