Honor A VeteranAlbany County Honors Korean War Veteran John J. BrennanAlbany County Executive Mike Breslin and the Honor-A-Veteran Committee commemorated Korean War veteran John J. Brennan at a ceremony held on Monday, June 6, 2005, at the Legnard American Legion Post in Green Island. Brennan was a lifelong resident of Green Island and a graduate of Catholic Central High School. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War in the North Atlantic from December 1951 to March 1953. Brennan was employed by the Bendix Corporation for 32 years, retiring as a manufacturing scheduler in 1980. He was also a self-employed television repairman. An active member of the community, he was a lifelong member of the Legnard-Curtin American Legion Post and communicant of St. Joseph’s Church, where he also served as the custodian. Brennan was a talented craftsman and enjoyed building handmade wood furniture in his retirement as well as spending time with his two grandchildren Timothy and Kelly and following the Yankees, Giants and Notre Dame football games.
