JCAB Volunteer Training: A Restorative Approach to Address Juvenile Crime - June 15, 2013
The Juvenile Community Accountability Board seeks to help juveniles understand the impact crime has had on the community, and to allow them an opportunity to repair the harm that was caused. Board members are all volunteers who live, work or have some vested interest in the community. Department of Probation Programs and Services

Agency services include the preparation of pre-sentence investigations and reports for the criminal courts and the supervision of criminals sentenced to probation. Investigation and supervision functions are also provided for criminals released from the jail by the Local Conditional Release Commission. Intake, investigation and supervision services are provided for Family Court. Many discretionary services for pretrial and alternative sentencing are also provided. This county probation department participates in PINS (Person In Need of Supervision).

Agency services include assessment, bail expediting, court advocacy and pretrial release services.

Employment Services Unit (ESU)

This unit applies a unique approach to creating safer communities and reducing offender recidivism by helping to prepare individuals who are under probation supervision to enter and remain in the workforce.

 
Intensive Supervision Program

The Intensive Supervision Program (ISP) is an Alternative to Incarceration  provided to superior courts and Local Conditional Release Commissions by participating probation departments.

 
Interlock Program

In conjunction with the latest professionally recognized probation practices, the Ignition Interlock Program provides Probation Officers with an invaluable tool to help ensure compliance with the law and probation conditions.

 
Intern Program

Albany County Probation Department maintains a Probation Intern Program in order to help qualified area students obtain a basic overall knowledge of Probation Services and how these services are provided to our clients, the courts and the community.

The Albany County Probation Department is currently seeking volunteers for their Juvenile Community Accountability Board(JCAB) Program. Expanding to the Bethlehem, Guilderland and Watervliet areas.

JCAB seeks to help juveniles understand the impact crime has on the community, and provide them an opportunity to repair the harm they have caused.

Pretrial Release Services

This program began operation in 1985. This project provides all criminal court clients, initially unable to post bail, the opportunity to be interviewed to determine eligibility for release from jail.
