Department of Probation Programs and Services
Agency services include the preparation of pre-sentence investigations and reports for the criminal courts and the supervision of criminals sentenced to probation. Investigation and supervision functions are also provided for criminals released from the jail by the Local Conditional Release Commission. Intake, investigation and supervision services are provided for Family Court. Many discretionary services for pretrial and alternative sentencing are also provided. This county probation department participates in PINS (Person In Need of Supervision).

| Employment Services Unit (ESU) |

Albany County Probation Department maintains a Probation Intern Program in order to help qualified area students obtain a basic overall knowledge of Probation Services and how these services are provided to our clients, the courts and the community.

| JCAB Program Seeking Volunteers |
| The Albany County Probation Department is currently seeking volunteers for their Juvenile Community Accountability Board(JCAB) Program. Expanding to the Bethlehem, Guilderland and Watervliet areas.

| Juvenile Community Accountability Board |
JCAB seeks to help juveniles understand the impact crime has on the community, and provide them an opportunity to repair the harm they have caused.

| Pretrial Release Services |
This program began operation in 1985. This project provides all criminal court clients, initially unable to post bail, the opportunity to be interviewed to determine eligibility for release from jail.
