Ryan V. Horstmyer, 25th Legislative DistrictRyan V. Horstmyer was elected in 2007 to his first full four-year term to represent residents of the 25th Legislative District in the County Legislature. The district lies entirely within the Town of Colonie and includes Newtonville and parts of Loudonville and Latham. He previously held the position by appointment from March 2007 through the end of the year to fill a vacancy.

Ryan is a member of the Legislature's Health, Personnel and Public Works Committees and the Albany County Youth Board. His policy focus is with the reform of the county ethics and financial disclosure law, and consolidation of government services.

Ryan is an associate at the law firm of Pennock, Breedlove & Noll, and is a member of the American Bar Association Section of State and Local Government Law. He previously served as a law intern at the Governor's Office of Regulatory Reform and as a judicial intern for State Supreme Court Justice Eugene P. Devine. He also previously worked as an assistant in the Rockefeller Institute of Government and as an employee of the Albany County Convention and Visitors Bureau from 2000 until 2007.

He has been active with the Colonie Democratic Committee since 2001 and currently serves as its second vice chairman. He also is a member of the Albany County Democratic Committee.

Ryan graduated with a bachelor's degree in public policy from the State University of New York at Albany, and he received his law degree from the Albany Law School.
