Thomas J Cotrofeld Jr, 34th Legislative DistrictThomas J. Cotrofeld Jr. Thomas J. Cotrofeld Jr. was elected in 2007 to his first full four-year term to represent residents of the 34th Legislative District in the Albany County Legislature.  He previously held the position by appointment to fill a vacancy for the last eight months of 2007. The 34th District lies entirely within the Town of Bethlehem and encompasses parts of Elsmere, Delmar and Slingerlands.

He is a member of the Committees on Conservation and Improvement and Public Works. He previously served on the Personnel Committee.

Tom is a life-long resident of Albany County and has lived in the Town of Bethlehem for the last 25 years. He has been a member of the Town of Bethlehem Planning Board since 2004.

Tom, who holds a degree in accounting, has been employed by General Electric since 1968, the last 16 years as government contract negotiator and administrator for GE Global Research.

He was honorably discharged from the Air National Guard's 109th Military Airlift Group and is a member of the American Legion Zaloga Post. He also is a past treasurer of the Capital District Bird Dog Club, a communicant and usher at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church and past vice president and charitable events coordinator of Tri-Vette's Ltd.

Tom is treasurer of the Bethlehem Democratic Committee, Bethlehem's representative on the Albany County Democratic Executive Committee and a member of the Albany County Democratic Committee.

Tom is married to Jeanne M. Valetta.
