Carl P Zeilman, 24th Legislative DistrictCarl P. Zeilman is a first term legislator representing Albany County's 24th Legislative District. The district lies completely within the Town of Colonie and runs along the north end of Central Avenue from Wolf Road to Osborne Road and north to Albany-Shaker Road.

As a legislator, Carl's top priorities are to strengthen the local economy, fight to keep taxes low, keep the community safe from crime, and most of all, being a strong voice for all the people of his district.

A 1995 graduate of Colonie Central High School, Carl received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology with a minor in Political Science from the State University of New York at Albany and completed his master's degree in Public Administration at the Sage Graduate School.

After graduating from the State University at Albany in 2001, Carl went on to hold various education positions with the Wildwood School, the LaSalle School for Boys and the Niskayuna Central School District working in the field of Special Education. In the spring of 2004, he was appointed Regional Coordinator of the New York State Assembly Minority Member Services Department.

Carl is actively involved within the community. He is a volunteer firefighter and current Rescue Lieutenant of the Fuller Road Fire Department. He also holds memberships with the Sons of the American Legion, the Fireman's Association of the State of New York and the Albany Masons F& A.M. Carl was recently named as a 2006 Jefferson Award honoree for his volunteer work in his community.

Carl was born and raised in South Colonie, and has remained a resident of the Town for 31 years.
