George L. Infante, 1st Legislative DistrictGeorge L. Infante has represented the 1st Legislative District in the Albany County Legislature since 1994. His district encompasses neighborhoods in the southern portion of the City of Albany along Delaware Avenue to Morton Avenue and surrounding Whitehall Road and Second Avenue and the northern portion of the Town of Bethlehem near the Normanside Country Club in Delmar, the Delwood Acres neighborhood north of Kenwood Avenue and the area east of Old Route 9W, north of Glenmont Road and west of River Road.

George is Chair of the Mass Transit Committee and a member of the Law and Personnel Committees.

Retired after more than 43 years in law enforcement, George was Albany County Sheriff from 1980 through 1989. Previously he was Deputy Superintendent - Field Commander of the New York State Police, which he joined as a trooper in May, 1946. He is a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army.

He has been an active volunteer for and participant in organizations benefiting veterans and seniors. George is past Albany County Commander of the American Legion, a member of the TRIAD-NYS Committee for the coordination of law enforcement for elderly persons, former Chairman of the Veterans Care Board at the Stratton VA Medical Center, where he also works as a volunteer, and an Advisory Board member of the Glenmont Job Corps.

George and his wife Amaryllis are the parents of six children and have 11 grandchildren.
