Revised Albany County Legislative DistrictsBased on the 2000 CensusLocal Law 2 for 2004 revised the boundaries for seven of the 39 Albany County legislative districts and will be the lines used for the 2007 elections effective for the 2008-2011 terms of office. The new boundaries for these districts – Numbers 1, 2, 4, 6, 7 and 14 in the City of Albany and 26 in the Town of Colonie – are contained in the settlement of a legal challenge approved by the U.S. District Court. The boundary lines for current legislative districts, effective though December 31, 2007, were set by Local Law 4 for 2003 and Local Law 7 for 2002. The full texts of the three local laws, including metes and bounds descriptions of the districts, are available for viewing on this web site. Population tables, demographics tables and district maps depict the 39 districts as they currently exist and the new districts that will be in effect January 1, 2008.
