Personnel Services Division

The Personnel Services Division of Human Resources is responsible for the presentation, implementation and management of employee benefits for Albany County. This workforce performs a valuable service to the residents of Albany County. We insure that services are maintained while handling the day to day operations of local government. Our important role requires an administrative agenda to manage all of the functions of benefits on behalf of Albany County's employees.

Our division handles training, payroll, health insurance, dental insurance, workers' compensation, disability, deferred compensation, savings bonds, life insurance, retirement loans, unemployment insurance, and all other personnel related functions for Albany County employees.

It is the goal of this Division to maintain the highest standard while serving the employees of Albany County. Our objective is to provide employees with the necessary information required to make informed decisions. Creating an environment of knowledge and accuracy of information will allow employees to make better decisions which, in turn, will benefit their lives.

Projects

A new time accounting system replaced our manual system which was implemented in 2000 to provide accountability in our workforce. An improved payroll system was implemented in 2001 to streamline operations and provide better control over all of the phases of payroll processing. This system provides departments with information and capabilities not available under the former payroll system. It will insure that our tax dollars are being utilized more efficiently.

The Division has worked very hard and has successfully implemented a Pre-Employment Orientation Program. Albany County employees are now welcomed into County employment with a program which provides information on all benefits offered through the Department of Human Resources. It is the intent of the Division to insure all new County employees receive accurate information to make informed and timely decisions about their benefits.
