ARTICLE 24
DEPARTMENT OF AGING

   Section 2401. Department of Aging; Commissioner. There shall be a Department for Aging which shall be responsible for devising a comprehensive County wide plan for services for the Aging; for identifying gaps in such service and encouraging service provision; for applying for funds from all appropriate governmental and private sources for services for the aging; and for providing information relative to programs and services for the elderly in the County and sources of support for such programs and services. The Department Head shall be the Commissioner of Aging. The Commissioner of the Aging Department shall be appointed by the County Executive, subject to confirmation by the County Legislature as provided in Section 302(c) of this Charter, and serve at the pleasure of the County Executive. The Commissioner of the Department for Aging shall perform such other and related duties as shall be required or delegated to her by the County Executive or the County Legislature.
