Consolidated¹ Albany County CharterARTICLE 20
Section 2001. Department of Consumer Affairs. There shall be a Department of Consumer Affairs, the head of which shall be the Commissioner of Consumer Affairs. The Commissioner shall be in the unclassified service of civil service and shall be appointed by the County Executive, subject to confirmation by the County Legislature, as provided in Section 302[c] of this Charter, and shall serve at the pleasure of the County Executive. Within the Department there shall be a division of Weights and Measures. Section 2002. Powers and Duties. The Commissioner of Consumer Affairs shall formulate and direct the County's overall consumer affairs program to protect and promote the best interests of the Albany County consumer public. Section 2003. Division of Weights and Measures. There shall be a Division of Weights and Measures, the head of which shall be the Director of Weights and Measures. The Director of the Division of Weights and Measures shall be appointed by the County Executive, subject to confirmation by the County Legislature as provided in Section 302[c] of this Charter, and serve at the pleasure of the County Executive. The Director shall have and exercise all powers and duties now or hereafter conferred or imposed upon a county sealer by applicable law and perform such other and related duties as shall be required of or delegated to her by the County Executive or the County Legislature or the Commissioner of Consumer Affairs. ¹Please Note: This document is a consolidation of relevant local laws.
