Do You Suspect Medicaid Provider Fraud? Call the Social Services Fraud Hotline to Report Your Concerns

County residents can call (518) 447-7380 with suspicions about Medicaid providers

Albany County Executive Dan McCoy reminds Albany County residents to be aware of Medicaid provider fraud, abuse and waste.  Under a memorandum of understanding between Albany County Social Services, the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) which was negotiated with the New York State Association of Counties (NYSAC), our County Department of Social Services can be granted authority to review the books of Medicaid health care providers. As part of that initiative, residents can use the Albany County's Social Services Fraud Hotline, (518) 447-7380, to report concerns or suspicions about Medicaid providers.

Created in September of 1995, the Social services Fraud Hotline was designed to target individuals who were fraudulently receiving benefits from the Social Services Department. Since that time, $ 2.6 million was recovered from individuals who illegally received benefits and the County avoided spending an estimated $199 million due to efforts of the Fraud Investigation and Recovery Unit.

"Albany County will not tolerate any abuse of taxpayer dollars through Social Services and all other agencies", said Albany County Executive Daniel McCoy. "One of my priorities is the elimination of abuse of county funds on all levels. I will aggressively target any individual who uses the system for their own personal gain. I am also committed to pursuing Medicaid providers that are doing the same. I strongly encourage anyone who feels that they are aware of any type of abuse of the Medicaid system to contact the fraud hotline at (518) 447-7380."
