Commodities Inspections
The Department of Consumer Affairs conducts commodities inspections to ensure that all eligible stores adhere to NYS Agriculture and Markets Law. Goods for sale are inspected to ensure that they meet advertised weight. Failure to comply with the law may result in fines. A current list of inspection violations is available online.

Octane Testing
The Department of Consumer Affairs conducts octane testing to ensure that every gasoline pump and gas station in Albany County adheres to all local laws and to the NYS Clean Air Act. The most recent testing results are available online.
 
Pumps and Scales
The Albany County Department of Consumer Affairs certifies the accuracy of all commercial scales in Albany County. Gasoline pumps are tested to ensure that they accurately dispense the amount of gasoline reflected by selling price. Scales are inspected to ensure that products sold by weight are accurately measured.
