Preparing Albany County in Case Monster Storm Hits

OCTOBER 26–No one knows for sure what path Hurricane Sandy will take in the coming days. What we do know is that all meteorologists are talking about the potential for severe weather. Albany County Executive Daniel P. McCoy is urging all residents to prepare ahead of time in case a monster storm hits.

"There's no denying the intensity and destructive force of high winds and rain," said McCoy. "With many leaves still on the trees, they could come down on top of power lines and knock out electricity. Be prepared. We are. Albany County's Critical Incident Emergency Management Unit is monitoring the situation and is ready whenever the storm hits."

Areas that were hit by Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee are very much aware of how quickly the weather can turn and are also ready.

"We've moved loaders into strategic places and put snowplows on trucks to prepare to remove downed trees if we have to," said Berne Town Supervisor Kevin Crosier. "We are ready."
