Albany County Update on Hurricane Sandy
OCTOBER 28—As the track of Hurricane Sandy continues to move toward the Northeast, Albany County residents should be aware of high winds. They are expected to begin Monday evening. For those living in elevations under 1500 feet, be ready for 30-40 mph steady winds with gusts to 60 mph. The Helderbergs are 1300-1550. Rain will come mostly within a 12-18 hour period and where you live by elevation will determine how much. Right now, we're expecting -3 inches for our area, but also showing up to 4.24" for the upper slope of the higher elevations as the storm approaches the Helderbergs. The National Weather service is expecting the probability for power outages at 80% south of the Mohawk River. The third slide shows how to get detail information from the National Weather Service website: http://www.noaa.gov/ 
To report power outages: If you are a National Grid customer, call (800) 867-5222. If you are a Central Hudson Gas & Electric customer, call (845) 452-2700 or (800) 527-2714.
Update on 2-1-1 hours: With the changing hurricane report of the Albany County area, 2-1-1 will not be open 24/7 but will be available for calls from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., seven days a week.
