Statement from Albany County Executive Daniel McCoy on Social Security Number Breach
"The privacy and security of personal information is an essential right. I will strongly defend that right. That is why I am calling for an independent investigation into the source of the release of social security numbers of members of the Albany County District Attorney's Office that were posted on a public blog. While that information has since been taken down, that breach of privacy cannot and will not be tolerated because the leaking of such information creates the potential for identity theft. This is unacceptable and the source needs to be held accountable if that breach has broken any laws."
