Contracting and Compliance

Albany County remains steadfast in it's commitment to "goal oriented" Minority and Women’s Business Utilization and Contract Compliance programs that afford disadvantaged businesses the opportunity to participate in the performance of contracts. The Division of Affirmative Action administers these programs on behalf of the County. These programs promote and ensure equal opportunity for disadvantaged businesses and minority and female labor in all areas of contracting.

The Division provides a variety of services to the Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) community. The Division performs outreach to publicize requests for proposals let by the county, solicits DBE participation on contracts, and certifies Minority and Women-owned Business Enterprises. It is our belief that the full participation in our free enterprise system by socially and economically disadvantaged persons is essential to obtain social and economic equality and improve the functioning of the local economy.

Additionally, the Division monitors contracts let by the County to assure that compliance with Federal, State and County mandates. Contractors are made aware of the County’s Anti-Discrimination Policy and are required to make a good faith effort to comply with the regulations of Resolution No. 26 adopted by the Albany County Legislature on June 10, 1996.

If you are interested MBE or WBE certification, bid opportunities or upcoming seminars, contact the Division at (518) 447-5510.
