Introduction

The fate of the Albany County Nursing Home has been discussed for ten years. It is one of the most important decisions I have faced as an elected official. I resolved to find a solution that:

• Protects seniors and ensures that our most vulnerable residents have the services they need
• Protects taxpayers and is pragmatic in terms of recognizing the economic difficulties faced by Albany County and
• Accepts responsibility, which means that we worked day and night on this important issue, that we are leading and not passing the buck, and finally have explored ALL options with an eye on finding the best and most innovative solution

This process has been open and transparent. We will be posting online all kinds of information about the process that will be continually updated.
