Albany County Executive Daniel McCoy has declared a State of Emergency effective immediately [PDF*].
"We are prepared," said McCoy. "Declaring a State of Emergency enables me to tap into every resource necessary should Hurricane Sandy hit us harder than anticipated. I encourage people to be safe and stay off the roads. Travel may become more difficult as the heavy winds and rain move in."
Noted below, United Way 2-1-1 has extended to 24/7 operations. All shelter information, emergency contact information and health and human services issues that arise can be addressed by dialing 2-1-1 from any cell phone or land line in Albany County.
