The Honor-A-Veteran Committee commemorated the life of Robert N. Signor at a ceremony held November 5, 2012. A video is available.
Robert N. Signor was born in Albany, New York on February 18, 1927. He enlisted in the US Marine Corps in 1945 and became a Private First Class. Robert served as a Mortar Crewman during the Occupation of China. He was discharged and re-enlisted in 1950 to serve in the 1st Marine Division 11th Regiment as a Field Artillery Cannoneer in Korea.
Robert was honored with many medals including the Asiatic Pacific Theatre Medal, American Defense Medal, World War II Victory Medal, China Service Medal, National Defense Medal, Korean Service Medal with One Star, United Nations Korean Defense Medal and Republic of Korea War Service Medal (issued by South Korea).
A loving husband and father, Robert was married to Dorothy for 63 years and had nine children. He worked at Williams Press for over 20 years and retired from the Watervliet Arsenal. Robert loved golf and was a member of the Chosin Few, American Legion and Albany Elks.
The Honor-A-Veteran ceremony is held the first Monday of every month to honor a deceased veteran of the community.
