The Honor-A-Veteran Committee commemorated the life of Frank J. Addario at a ceremony held March 5, 2012.
Frank J. Addario was born in Albany, New York on April 20, 1923. He enlisted in 1943 and served his country in the U.S Army, Navy and Coast Guard. Frank was a stenographer and was qualified as an Expert Gunner. He served in Germany during World War II and was awarded the American Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal.
When he came home, Frank worked for the federal railroad and then as a supervisor for the U.S. Postal Service. While he worked for the railroad, Frank also owned a barber shop. He was a member of the Colonie Elks Lodge 2192 and the Joseph E. Zaloga Post 1520
The Honor-A-Veteran ceremony is held the first Monday of every month to honor a deceased veteran of the community.
