Donald E. Brady, Sr., US Navy

Albany County Executive Mike Breslin, Congressman Paul Tonko and the Honor-A-Veteran Committee commemorated veteran Donald E. Brady, Sr. at a ceremony on Monday, May 3, 2010 at the American Legion North Albany Post 1610 in Albany.

Brady was born in 1933 in Albany. He served in the United States Navy from 1953-1955 and was aboard the U.S.S. Tunxis during the Korean Conflict.

A resident of the Capital Region for most of his life, Brady was truly committed to serving his country and community. He was very active in the American Legion, having served as commander of post 1610 in North Albany and on the county level as chairman of the oratorical committee, chaplain and vice commander. He was also an adult acolyte and reader at the Church of St. Vincent de Paul. For many years Brady gave the invocation at the Honor A Veteran Program. His dedication and kind words became an integral part of the monthly ceremony.

The Honor-A-Veteran ceremony is held every first Monday of the month to honor a deceased veteran of the community.
