Andrew H. Wilkinson, US Air Force

Albany County Executive Mike Breslin, Congressman Paul Tonko and the Honor-A-Veteran Committee commemorated veteran Andrew H. Wilkinson at a ceremony on Monday, March 1, 2010 in the Harold L. Joyce County Office Building in Albany.

Wilkinson was born on April 13, 1933 in Albany. He served in the United States Air Force for 23 years, retiring as a master sergeant after 19 base assignments and 13 years overseas, including Vietnam from 1966-1967.

Wilkinson was a founding member and past board member of the Tri County Council Vietnam Era Veterans, chairing the Hospital Oversight and Agent Orange/Dioxin committees. He was also a lifelong member of the Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 10, the Oppenheim VFW Post 1019 and the Scully American Legion Post 1019. Wilkinson worked tirelessly as a veterans advocate, particularly for those suffering from PTSD and exposure to Agent Orange.

The Honor-A-Veteran ceremony is held every first Monday of the month to honor a deceased veteran of the community.
