Albany County Executive Mike Breslin, Congressman Paul Tonko and the Honor-A-Veteran Committee commemorated Vietnam Veteran Kevin B. Ryan, Jr. at a ceremony on Monday, January 4, 2010.
Ryan was born on April 11, 1950 in Albany. He enlisted in the United States Army and rose to become a Specialist 4th Class while serving in the Vietnam War as a heavy vehicle driver.
Upon returning home, Ryan remained active in the New York State National Guard. He worked for the City of Albany for over 20 years and was a member and past commander of the North Albany Post #1610 American Legion, a member of the Albany County American Legion Bowling League and a member and past Marshall of the North Albany Limericks. A spiritual man, Ryan was a communicant of the Church of the Sacred Heart, North Albany.
