Albany Convention Center Authority Announces New Board Members ALBANY, N.Y. (Oct. 26, 2007) –Albany Convention Center Authority (ACCA) Chair, George Leveille today announced the appointment of two new Board members. Lori Harris of Norstar Development was appointed by Governor Eliot Spitzer and Michael Perrin, Deputy County Executive was appointed by County Executive Michael Breslin. Both Appointments happened during the month of October. Completing the board slate, Board Treasurer Joseph Pennisi, originally an Albany County Executive appointee resigned at the September Board meeting and was immediately re-appointed by Governor Eliot Spitzer. This change was due to Mr. Pennisi's change in employment from Albany County to New York State, as Executive Director ofthe NYS Workers' Compensation Board. With the new appointments the board is now at full capacity. "We are very pleased to welcome Ms. Harris and Mr. Perrin to the Board. They bring strong skill sets and invaluable experience to the Board at a very critical time", said Leveille. "Together with the re-appointment of Mr. Pennisi, we have added great depth to our Board", he went on to say. The Albany Convention Center Authority was created in 2004 as a public benefit corporation under the New York State Public Authorities Act. The Authority was created to meet an immediate need to institute a comprehensive, coordinated program of convention activities in the city of Albany. It will provide the City of Albany with the ability to develop, renovate and undertake economic development projects in the historic downtown area to optimize the economic and social activities of city and its environs. The Authority consists of nine members, three appointed by the Governor of New York State, one appointed by the Temporary President of the Senate, one member appointed by the Speaker of the Assembly. Two members are appointed by the Mayor of the City of Albany, with the advice and consent of the Common Council and two members are appointed by the Albany County Executive, with the advice and consent of the County Legislature. All members of the Board shall serve at the pleasure of their appointing authority.
