Katie’s Koats Results: More is Better

January 31, 2014

Imagine your weekends were three times longer. Or your paychecks were three times larger. Nice, right? Albany County Executive Daniel P. McCoy is thrilled to announce the overwhelming support the county has shown for its homeless veterans. In just 25 days, Katie’s Koats brought in 3,500 coats to help our local veterans.

“I am amazed to see that we have brought in three times the amount of coats we did during our first drive,” said McCoy. “I’m proud our citizens recognize our homeless veterans need help and answered the call.”

Albany County teamed up with PG’s Café, Best Cleaners and the Homeless and Travelers Aid Society to help keep our veterans warm this winter.

Collection boxes were set up at the County Office Building at 112 State Street and all Best Cleaners locations throughout the capital region. After coats were collected, Best Cleaners cleaned items free of charge.
