Latham Boy Scouts Camp Out

Boy Scouts from Latham during their service day camp out event Latham Scout Camp Out May 2016

Lawson Lake County Park hosted Latham area Boy Scout Troops for their camp out and service project the weekend of May 14-15, 2016.

Boy Scout Troops 277, 78 and 1701 attended, and for the first time a Venturing Crew was included in the camp out, the newly-formed Crew 1078.

The boys and girls participated in a service project at the park as a way to give back to Albany County for the use of the facilities.

The project consisted of clearing areas along one of the walking trails to make way for proposed Indian Village displays for visitors to view while at the park.

The scouts also built fire rings with the stones and rocks they had dug up while clearing the village locations. Fallen logs placed along the trail mark the walking paths and were also used to make benches.

Approximately 75 youth and adults attended the weekend event.
