Emergency Manager’s Workgroup Training

The Albany County Emergency Manager’s workgroup training was held at Lawson Lake in April. This group is made up of elected officials; emergency managers; and  police, fire and EMS chiefs.

Shannon Finegan from DHSES presented “Declaring a State of Emergency” and Steve DiRienzo from the National Weather Service spoke on how the National Weather Service can assist emergency management.

Representatives from the cities of Cohoes and Watervliet, the towns of Berne, Bethlehem, Coeymans, Colonie, Guilderland, Westerlo and Rensselaerville and the villages of Green Island, Altamont and Menands as well as numerous county and state agencies also attended the half-day training at Lawson Lake.

Open year round to the public for bird watching, cross country skiing, fishing, hiking, ice fishing, nature study, picnicking, snowshoeing and the use of canoes and portable cartop watercraft.
