Albany County, like most counties in New York State, does not accept credit card payments at this time.
Real Property Tax Law (Section 922-3) states that the failure to mail any such statement, or failure of any such owner to receive the same shall not in any way affect the ability of taxes or interest prescribed by law with respect thereto.
In 1995 The Albany County Legislature adopted local law No. 6 providing a program for the Installment Payment of Eligible delinquent property taxes .
A Taxpayer who enters into an installment payment agreement must comply with the following requirements:
Example: Agreement is in default if current taxes are left unpaid and are returned to the County.
There is a 5% late charge on any Installment received by the County more than 15 days after due.
If more than one parcel is delinquent then all parcels must be put on an agreement.
The County encourages any eligible taxpayers to consider the installment payment plan. The plan helps property owners avoid foreclosure while it helps reduce the time and effort that the County must spend to enforce tax liens.
