Following two recent child safety check events, it is clear that despite the best of intentions parents and caregivers may need assistance when it comes to the safe installation of car seats for children
At a seat check event held on July 17 at Crossgates Mall, technicians found that not one of the 55 seats checked was installed correctly. At another event at Colonie Center in June, 91 seats were checked and only one had been installed correctly and 15 seats were deemed unsafe for use. These results are eye-opening and potentially hazardous.
"These results are troubling and we will continue to provide these events to the community so we can protect kids in vehicles," Albany County Executive Daniel P. McCoy said. "These free events feature Certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians from around the Capital Region who are there to help save lives. Anyone who has a child and uses a car seat should take advantage of this program."
The seat check program will be held on Wednesday, August 7 from 3:30- 6:30pm at the Voorheesville Farmer's Market at the United Methodist Church, at 68 Maple Ave. in Voorheesville.
The event is sponsored by:
