Albany County's Issuance of CDTA Half Fare and STAR ID Cards

Effective June 25, 2007, all CDTA Half Fare and STAR ID cards will be issued by the Reception staff, 1st Fl., 162 Washington Avenue, Albany. The new hours of operation are Mon- Fri, 8:30 to 12:00 and 1:00 to 2:00. There is no charge for a STAR ID card or for a replacement STAR ID card. The charge for the first CDTA Half Fare ID card issued is $3.00. The charge for all replacement CDTA Half Fare cards is $3.00 (please bring exact change).

The expiration date for replacement CDTA Half Fare and STAR ID cards does not change when a replacement card is issued.  Changes in expiration dates will only be made after a card has expired, and when an individual recertifies by presenting appropriate identification and documentation to verify continued approval for the program.

The following criteria must be met in order to receive a CDTA Half Fare ID card or STAR ID card:

PROOF OF IDENTITY AND COUNTY OF RESIDENCE IS REQUIRED FOR ALL CARDS

For a Senior CDTA Half Fare ID card (65+): Proof of date of birth is required.

For a Disabled CDTA Half Fare ID card: Proof of receipt of SSI or SSD, or for recipients of Veterans Disability, a letter from the VA which states their status as a disabled veteran is required. Also, a letter from CDTA approving a person for a Reduced Fare ID card can be accepted.

STAR ID card: CDTA certification letter is required.

Note: If a person is working with a program such as VESID, ARC, MS, or the Northeastern Association for the Blind, they can apply for approval for the Half Fare ID card through their program. CDTA will send them an approval letter which must be presented to the Reception staff along with proof of identity in order to receive an ID card.

If you have any questions about the above CDTA programs, please call: Maryellen Casey Usis at CDTA at (518) 437-8378.
